Leader’s Summit Information

Hello, Coaches!

We hope you are all having a restful off-season!  Although the start of our season is just 4 months away, we here at Arkansas NICA have been busy planning for this upcoming season.  We are excited to be together this weekend, March 1-3 in Hot Springs Arkansas for LeadersSummit! We have over 70 people registered as of this morning.

The Arkansas NICA LeadersSummit brings together new and established teams from across the state so that team directors, coaches of all levels and experience and parent volunteers can collaborate.  The goal of the LeadersSummit is to provide you, the core of our league, time to develop skills, gain knowledge, share strategies, and build a community.

In order to maximize our time together during the LeadersSummit we do have a two actions we need you to take before you come.

1. Complete the On The Bike 101/201 Form. This will help us plan instructors and space for our on the bike skills sessions

2. Complete the Risk Management 1 Webinar (35 min) and Test. Every coach has to do this every year, and doing it before leaders summit allows us not to cover the material directly in a classroom setting.

Note: Please take a screenshot or picture of your test results and save so you can upload to your coach license in the NICA Pit Zone once it opens April 1.

If you have any questions on Coach Licenses please refer to (http://www.nationalmtb.org/coaches-license-program/) to better understand how this year’s LeadersSummit will help meet your coaching needs.

Please pack clothes for On The Bike skills that you can be comfortable standing around outside and riding outside in. Layers can be helpful this time of year with variable weather. We also recommend flat pedals and shoes for these classes.

Please see the agenda of event and note there is a social at the Hotel Friday night and another Saturday night within walking distance of the hotel at Core Brewing.  There is a potential we may move things around if rain becomes a factor in the weekend. In case you want to start out the weekend shredding, don’t forget there is a Friday “epic” ride hosted by the Arkansas League’s own Coach Support Coordinator Terry Coddington on the LOVIT Trail. LOVIT is one of Arkansas’ epic rated trails. This will be a self supported ride and start from the Little Blakely Dam Trailhead 1320-1338 Blakely Dam Rd, Royal, AR 71968. Trail is moderate to intermediate and will have about 2500 feet of elevation during the course of the ride in an out and back format. The ride will start at 1pm and return back to the trailhead in time to be at the Hotel Hot Springs social hour at 5:30 and check-in. Until then stay Rad!
